Our vision for women empowerment is to create an enabling environment where women and girls in Gombe State have equal opportunities to access quality education, healthcare, economic opportunities, leadership positions, financial resources and the skills required to achieve their full potential.
We recognise that the development of Gombe State cannot be complete without the full participation of women. Our administration will therefore pursue policies that remove barriers to women's economic, educational, social and political participation while creating practical opportunities for women to become financially independent and active contributors to the development of their families and communities.
WOMEN'S ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT
We will establish targeted programmes that provide women with access to entrepreneurship training, vocational skills, business development services, finance and markets.
Women will be supported to establish and expand businesses in agriculture, food processing, fashion, technology, retail, services, creative industries and other viable sectors.
Support programmes will focus on sustainable economic opportunities rather than temporary interventions, with beneficiaries receiving appropriate training, mentorship and follow-up support.
ACCESS TO FINANCE
We will improve women's access to affordable financing through grants, cooperative schemes, microfinance opportunities and partnerships with financial institutions.
Transparent eligibility and selection processes will be established to ensure that financial support reaches women with genuine economic needs and viable business opportunities.
Special attention will be given to women in rural communities who often face greater barriers to accessing formal financial services.
WOMEN'S SKILLS DEVELOPMENT
We will expand vocational, technical and digital skills programmes specifically designed to meet the needs of women.
Training opportunities will include tailoring, fashion design, catering, food processing, agriculture, renewable energy, ICT, digital marketing, beauty services, crafts and other market-relevant skills.
Women will also be encouraged to participate in emerging sectors such as technology, e-commerce, digital services and entrepreneurship.
WOMEN IN AGRICULTURE
We will increase women's participation across the agricultural value chain by improving access to agricultural inputs, training, financing, technology, land opportunities and markets.
Women farmers and agribusiness entrepreneurs will be supported not only in production but also in processing, packaging, storage and marketing.
Women-focused agricultural cooperatives will be strengthened to improve access to resources and increase bargaining power.
EDUCATION AND GIRL-CHILD DEVELOPMENT
We will promote greater access to education for girls and support programmes that reduce barriers to enrolment, retention and completion.
Scholarships, mentorship programmes, skills development and career guidance will be used to encourage girls to pursue education and professional careers.
Special emphasis will be placed on science, technology, engineering, mathematics and other fields where women remain underrepresented.
WOMEN IN TECHNOLOGY
We will promote digital inclusion by providing women and girls with access to computers, internet connectivity, digital literacy and technology training.
Women will be encouraged to participate in software development, digital marketing, e-commerce, data analysis, artificial intelligence, content creation and other digital professions.
Innovation centres and digital training hubs will provide safe and supportive environments for women to develop technology skills and businesses.
WOMEN'S HEALTH AND WELL-BEING
Women's health will remain a major component of the empowerment agenda.
We will support improved access to maternal healthcare, reproductive health information, screening services, nutrition programmes and other essential health services.
Women will be encouraged to access healthcare early and regularly, while community awareness programmes will promote healthy practices and timely medical intervention.
LEADERSHIP AND POLITICAL PARTICIPATION
We will encourage greater participation of women in leadership, governance and community decision-making.
Women will be supported through leadership development, mentoring and capacity-building programmes that prepare them for roles in government, business, civil society and community institutions.
The voices and perspectives of women will be incorporated into policies and programmes that affect families, communities and the wider society.
SUPPORT FOR RURAL WOMEN
Special programmes will target women in rural communities who face limited access to finance, markets, healthcare, education and technology.
Mobile training programmes, community-based enterprise schemes and cooperative structures will help bring opportunities closer to women rather than requiring them to travel long distances.
SUPPORT FOR VULNERABLE WOMEN
We will develop targeted interventions for widows, women with disabilities, women from extremely disadvantaged households and other vulnerable groups.
Support may include skills training, economic assistance, healthcare referrals, education opportunities and access to social protection programmes.

We will strengthen women-led cooperatives and producer groups to enable women to pool resources, access finance, purchase inputs collectively and negotiate better prices.

CHILDCARE AND WORK-LIFE SUPPORT
We recognise that childcare responsibilities can limit women's participation in education and economic activities.

We will support programmes that promote the safety, dignity and rights of women and girls.
